  • Albion Grade School Strives For Excellence

Albion Grade School thrives on academic success for each and every individual student.  The AGS staff goes above and beyond in preparation, instruction, data analysis, and academic adjustments to tailor instruction to individual needs.

Albion Grade School has made the appropriate academic adjustments that provide the student body with current, relevant, and common core aligned lessons.  In adapting to the common core, AGS has provided the opportunity for success with the changing state testing standards.  AGS also is one of the few schools to offer a K-8 music program that is second to none.

Albion Grade School has high expectations for extra-curricular involvement and success.  AGS offers Choir, Band, Quiz Bowl, Girls Softball, Girls Volleyball, Cheerleading, Boys Baseball, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball.  Albion Grade School is competitive with larger schools in all venues and has the expectation for all involved to put forth the effort that creates opportunities at the highest levels.

Albion Grade School has a positive “family” philosophy.  Administration and staff support each student and each other as individuals, provide a support system, and demonstrate positive examples of virtues that all students should learn.

Through all of these processes, Albion Grade School develops each student to be a productive asset in our world today.

    Bruce Knowles: Homegrown Hero

Recently, Mrs. Bishop's homeroom class was presented with a great opportunity to recognize a member of our community as our "Homegrown Hero". After talking with her students, Mrs. Bishop and her class realized that they needed to look no further than within the doors of this school. Bruce Knowles; a man who served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Just Cause, where he earned a Purple Heart, works as a Custodian here at the school. Bruce volunteers at the school throughout the year, offering up his knowledge of the events to students studying those topics. Bruce's grandfather was also in the military, serving under General Patton during World War II, and Bruce passes down stories from him to the students he encounters. Mr. Knowles also provides a military drill simulation to the seventh grade classes, an exciting event for all the students and one that Bruce really seems to enjoy. Bruce never hesitates to strike up conversation with the students of Edwards County and takes a genuine interest in their well-being, often reminding them of the importance of respect. Mr. Bruce Knowles is a proud veteran, a great influence within the school and the community, and our very own "Homegrown Hero".
